Wabisabiculture inaugurates the first Japanese rocky landscape in Italy, unique also at a European level. A project that concludes a path that has already begun 20 years ago and which represents an important enrichment in the experience of the Zen Art and Japanese Culture Center.
Institutions of the Municipality of San Ginesio participated in the inauguration of the Karesansui, Mayor Giuliano Ciabocco, Mirco Carloni, Vice-president of the Marche Region, Leo Achilli of the Embassy of Japan in San Marino, the American artist and philosopher Leonard Koren e Kaoru Kobayashi, Sensei who closed the event with a live performance on the art of the Tea ceremony.
Proprio Leonard Koren, American artist and writer known for his book on Wabi Sabi aesthetics and Japanese gardens, who inspired the design of the Wabisabiculture center with his works he told: “I have visited numerous Japanese gardens and on seeing this Karensansui I immediately recognized an original and distinctive trait, especially in the way in which uncontrolled nature is intertwined with the monoliths and the abstraction of the garden. The whole Center has different Wabi Sabi aspects, especially in the way Italian and Japanese traditions meet "
Giuliano Ciabocco declares, Mayor of San Ginesio: “We have accompanied Wabisabi in all phases from its birth and growth, a challenge in wanting to create a corner of Japan in the Marche region. The uniqueness and exceptionality of the place represents an added value not only for San Ginesio. It is something exceptional, an Italian and European excellence. The integration between territory and Japanese culture can also be seen from the event that we do every year with the Peace Festival, which has reached its twelfth edition. An example of continuity and dialogue with the activities that take place at Wabisabi and move to the center of San Ginesio and to the public.
Mirco Carloni, Vice-president of the Marche Region: “I was very keen to be present to support this innovative project. There is a real need for spirituality in this ephemeral society ".
He added Leo Achilli representative of the Embassy of Japan in San Marino: “This project is a beautiful initiative, which crowns many years of work, passion and competence. Initiatives like these are very important to raise awareness of many aspects of Japanese culture, which is our mission, but they also give added value to the community of San Ginesio through this structure which represents a driving force for the entire economy of the area.
They comment Ricky A. Swaczy and Serenella Giorgetti, founders of Wabisabicluture and designers of Karesansui: “This project also expresses theintercultural bridge and the connection between Japan and Tibet, a concept related to meditation and peacebecause Kalachakra expresses the wheel of time linked to peace. This garden has three levels of reading. The first is the meditative Japanese rocky landscape, the second refers to the Kalachakra tantra and his esoteric universe and finally also represents the mandala of his mind. The choice of materials is also the result of long studies and travels. We saw that the Japanese gardens were made of granite and therefore we selected Montorfano granite, black and white representing yin and yang. And instead the chosen monoliths are of serpentine, esoteric stone that drives away negativity, brings positive energies together and helps meditative concentration and healing”.
