An award and a festival dedicated to the Art of the Actor
The Award dedicated to the art of the actor is born in the country of its patron saint
The city of San Ginesio which takes its name from its patron saint, Christian martyr and protector of actors, represents the ideal venue to establish from this year - and this year in which the entertainment world has been so severely tested - an award reserved for them.
Thus was born, on the initiative of the promoting committee, chaired by the Mayor Giuliano Ciabocco, a national award for the art of the actor, on San Ginesio Award, which year after year will be awarded to the best actress and the best theater actor selected by a prestigious jury of experts who, for this first edition, has decided to reward Federica Fracassi, highly experienced and talented theater and film actress e Massimo Popolizio, actor among the most important in the Italian theater scene and beyond.
The Ginesio Fest and the San Ginesio Award, who made use of the decisive contribution of Remo Girone, they will involve the whole territory and the village in particular, and will be built and managed by the city of San Ginesio together with founding partners representing the cultural world, regional and national, in various disciplinary fields: training schools, the Academy of Fine Arts, the Cultural Associations, the Marchigiana Association of Theater Activities AMAT, the Universities and in particular the Santacristina Theater Center, the International Center for Gentilian Studies and the National Violin Makers Association.
The Prize is, together with the exhibition "Hoc Opus - Return to beauty" which allows since 18 July at the Sant’Agostino Auditorium to return to admire the paintings made safe after the earthquake, the main asset of a project that involves a demanding operation for the rebirth and revaluation of the territory after the earthquake of 2016.
The villages of the central Apennines have in fact reacted to disasters by establishing a common network and putting into practice the principle of "antifragile territories", that is, not only resilient but reactive and proactive, with the aim of transforming such a traumatic episode for the community and the territory, also in an opportunity to improve, make system, grow up together.
In this larger project, the city has decided to enhance the figure of the patron saint of artists, of musicians and theater people, and has imagined transforming the Borgo di San Ginesio into the Borgo degli Attori in the next few years, to create a mutual opportunity for growth and rebirth.
Some valuable partnerships are already in place to plan their headquarters or artistic residences in the municipal area. Among the first to collaborate with the Municipality, Mario Brunello, world famous cellist, The Santacristina Theater Center founded by Luca Ronconi and Roberta Carlotto, the actors Milena Mancini and Vinicio Marchioni . In the next few years, other profitable investments are expected to be launched.
